Homemade Dog Food for a puppy with cancer! 🐶

Ollie’s FOOD 🐶 ** *** > Here is how I prepared my puppy’s food. I did my best to put it in a step-by-step process, but please feel free to ask any questions because it can be a bit confusing at times! Also, if making this mix weekly is just too much for you, you can add some wet vegan doggie food to the mix, and therefore, cook less for your pup! 😁 > These recipes are also made in BULK, so this amount can last for at least a week. Cook more or less depending on the size of your dog. I have a 50 pound pitbull/boxer. I had a huge tupperware dish FULL of food for him at all times, and I had room for it in my fridge, so be sure you're ready for this! > “ ACV ” = APPLE CIDER VINEGAR MIX - You’ll see I use apple cider vinegar as a preservative, and as a fighting mechanism against cancer. AT ALL TIMES I am using the unprocessed apple cider vinegar, with the mother syrup on the bottom, thinned out with water. Always 60% WATER to 40% ACV. You can get the ACV from either Sprout’s Market, or BRAGG’s ORGANICS —> https://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-255662-bragg-organic-apple-cider-vinegar-gallon-with-mother-128-oz?utm_source=google&utm_medium=PLA&sc_intid=116716&scid=scplp2955322&gclid=CMyq1Yz-ktECFQGPaQodEY4Gpw > AVO OIL = Avocado oil, I use this oil because it can handle high heats, and it has the least amount of saturated fat in the oil. > Also, please so not underestimate the power of love when healing your dog. Talk to them like they completely understand you, give them long BEAR hugs, and always always always tell them you love them! LOVE HEALS. PERIOD. ========================================================================= Process No. 1 - Brown Rice and YAM/Sweet Potato Mix 1.) You’ll need to prepare about 4-5 cups (uncooked) of rice for this process. For me, I use a large rectangle lasagna pan with the lid, adding in 5 cups of brown rice, and 10 cups filtered water. I cover with the lid and bake that at 420 F for 50-55 minutes. Right after it’s done I pour Avocado Oil all over the top, and sprinkle about 3/4 CUP CURRY POWDER (or smoked paprika) on top, and add about 2 cups of rice protein powder for added protein.

Process No. 2 - Preparing the TOFU

1.) Buy 8-10 extra firm organic tofu packages: You can buy these in Bulk from BetterLife Organics. When you have all the tofu at the house, put all of them in the freezer. 2.) After 2 days pull out 4 of the extra firm tofu packs and let them thaw out on the counter for 2 days. 3.) When thawed, take them out of the packages and begin pushing out the water. To do this well put one cube of tofu on a plate and set another plate atop the cube. Squeeze the plates together over the sink, but be careful, the plates can break, so keep the plates deep in the sink while doing this! My plates don't break because they weren't cheap, but just be careful in general on this step. Get out as much water as possible and set aside. 4.) Now you’ll need to “STACK THE TOFU.” You want to create layers: - A plate need to be at the bottom - Then place a nice flat dish towel on top of the bottom plate - Then put a layer of 2-3 paper towels (full size) on top of that - Then place all 4 blocks out on the plate. They should be side-by-side on the plate, and no block of tofu should be on top of another block. It should just be set out like this (but the block edges should be touching): 🔳🔳 🔳🔳 - Add another layer of paper towels to the top of the tofu - Add another layer of a dish towel to the top of the paper towels - Add another plate to the top of all this, you should have a weird huge tofu drying sand which by now 😂 - And finally, on top of this sand which put a 15 pound weight on top, such as a large watermelon or a gallon of water. - Now you simply allow the tofu to dry out by setting it all in the fridge for 2 days. The weight on top of the tofu will push the water out, and the towels will soak up this water. Now you're ready to turn it into a meat crumble! Process No. 3 - Creating a Vegan Meat for Protein Dog’s really do need more protein in their diet, but we don’t want to help along any cancer by using animal meats. Here’s how to create a vegan meaty addition to the dinner mix: 1.) You’ll need a really large skillet for cooking this much tofu, but if you can’t do that then make it in 2-3 batches in a normal size skillet with a lid. I don’t do that though. I use that same HUGE rectangle lasagna pot from the rice, and put it over 2 flames on my stove, vertically. Spray the pan with AVO oil, and put over a very low heat to get the pot or pan warm while we cut up the tofu. 2.) Cut up the tofu vertically and horizontally, but there is no need to cut it width wise, as we will be cutting it up more as we cook it. Keep the cubes really small, especially if you’ll be using this for human consumption. Add all the tofu to the warm pan, cover, increase the heat to high, and let it brown for 3-4 minutes. Then uncover and stir with your spatula. As you are stirring you can begin breaking the tofu up by continuing to cut into it with the spatula. Over the course of this cooking you’ll want to break it up into smaller and smaller pieces. Trust me, it tastes better this way! You're going for a kind-of tofu crumble, if you will. You may also want to spay a bit of soy sauce atop the tofu after this initial dry-cooking phase, but only spray it lightly because it’s high in salt. 3.) After it’s changed color a bit and looks ready, add in about 1/2 Cup low sodium teriyaki sauce per each 16 oz cube of tofu. So we used 4 blocks = 0.5 C * 4 = 2 Cups sauce (use more sauce if it's for human consumption). You’ll want to do this is 2 steps: add half of the sauce first, COVER & cook for about 5 minutes, add it the rest, and cook for another 5 minutes, this time, not covered and keep stirring and chopping the tofu with your spatula. 4.) When the tofu is well cooked in it’s batter you can lower the heat to a medium flame and cook for another 5 minutes. This really allows the flavor to enter the blocks. After this you can turn the flame off and add in a can of pumpkin (don't add pumpkin in it's for human consumption). For 4 blocks of tofu you’ll need either 1 large (822g) can of pumpkin, or 2 small cans. Check the ingredients of the canned pumpkin to make sure it is pumpkin only, no weird sweeteners or other shit should be in any of your canned goods. 5.) Mix the tofu and pumpkin until well combined, then place in a tupperware dish, and refrigerate the mix. If you are using this for your dog, the mix can be consumed as soon as it’s ready, but if using this for a taco meat for humans, you’ll need to refrigerate the mix for at least a day, then warm over the stove before serving. I serve my dog this mix cold. My dog absolutely LOVED all his food! I was a lucky momma! Process No. 4 - The Final Dish 1.) In his bowl I put a shot of ACV and a shot of water. Then I add about a cup yam/rice mix, and blend that all together. Again, keep in mind that I have a 50 pound dog, so feed your dog less if he or she weighs less, etc. 2.) Next I add in about 3/4 Cup of the Tofu protein, mix well. 3.) Next I might chop up some fresh spinach, lightly cook it, and add that in too… or I might add a lil steamed broccoli… or a can of green beans… something green! 4.) Give everything a good stir and serve it to the puppy! Your dog should love this shit, but if s/he doesn’t be sure to leave it, and let them get hungry. Dogs will eat as soon as they are too hungry to say no, and then their taste buds will change within a week…! Also: you can add in some creamy peanut butter to get them to eat it if they won't. There will be the occasional dog who will just not go along with this meal plan, but they are few and far between. =========================================================================

Listed above are the 2 main ingredients in his food, but we regularly also add in things like:

- Canned green beans - Lightly cooked spinach, cut up very small - Avocado - Steamed broccoli - Banana - Butter Lettuce We also give ollie Carrots as a chew toy / snack, and sometimes we add a bit of creamy peanut putter to those. **If this seams like too much work, I get it, we're all busy with work and life, so here's a tip: make 1/2 the amount and serve it to the dog atop a bowl of vegan dog food. *** Please also see my disclaimer link and do what you feels right for your dog! I am not a veterinarian or a doctor so please take it slow and note how your dog feels. All I know for sure is that this extra work gave me an extra 3 years with my dog!

U P D A T E: Ollie Rau sadly passed away on MARCH 31st, 2017. He is missed every second of every day and life has generally sucked without him 😭
